There are varying reasons women go for breast surgery. Those who believe that their breasts are small or asymmetrical will do the procedure to enhance their form. Others do it for medical reasons, such as eliminating breast cancer or non-cancerous lumps. Some want the procedure but do not know where to find a surgeon. Fortunately, women who live in New Jersey have access to the best East Windsor, NJ breast reconstructive surgeon. That is not to say that surgeons in other states are not good. With that brief introduction, let us discuss the different breast surgery procedures they can get.

    Fat Grafting

In this procedure, the surgeon removes unwanted fat (mainly from the thigh or tummy) and transfers it to the breasts to enlarge them. The doctor relies on liposuction techniques to harvest the fat. This surgery is mainly done after a mastectomy or to disguise the edges of breast implants for those who have them.

This procedure has some notable benefits. First, it slims the woman down, which generally improves their body contours. Additionally, the procedure has fewer complications since the doctor uses the patient’s tissues instead of breast implants.

    Breast Lift

This surgery aims to correct sagging breasts, which result from weight loss or after pregnancy. The surgeon raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissues. This procedure is for women who desire a more youthful look.

After a breast lift, it is normal for women to experience mild discomfort and swelling. These changes are nothing to worry about since they usually disappear within a week. During this time, you should avoid strenuous exercises as much as possible.

    Breast Implant Removal

Initially, some women will flock to hospitals wanting breast implants. After getting them, they will be happy with their improved breast symmetry and youthful appearance. As effective as they are, they can cause capsular contracture. The condition hardens scar tissue around the implants, which causes pain. It, therefore, becomes necessary for the surgeon to remove them.

Other women remove them because they have gained their confidence back. That means they have realized they do not need to change their bodies to please society.

    Breast Reconstruction

The best candidates for this procedure are those who have lost one or two breasts during cancer treatment and those planning a mastectomy. It involves rebuilding the breast by removing sections of the breast. One common form of breast reconstruction is flap reconstruction, which uses tissue to rebuild the breast.

The recovery time for this procedure depends on the type of breast reconstruction. Flap surgery takes time to heal compared to implant-based surgery.

    Breast Reduction

If you have large breasts, you may have experienced neck and back pain and breathing difficulties. Besides posing health challenges, they can cause you to lose your self-esteem. Thankfully, the surgeon can reduce your breasts by making incisions starting from the areola. As they make the cuts, fatty tissue and excess breast tissue come out.

If you have been unhappy with your breasts for some time, you now know which breast surgery procedures to consider. People who do not consider this option may get depressed, which is not the state you want to be in.

Whichever procedure you go for, it is still crucial to take care of yourself. Some women may be eager to return to activities like exercising, but you need rest. If not, you may bleed or get some breast infections.
