Avoid Penalties by Staying Within the Legal Limit of Blood Alcohol Concentration

Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is used to determine the alcohol levels in your body. Many states have a legal limit set for BAC and if you happen to cross that limit, you might have to pay a penalty.

The Alcohol Content in Your System

When we consume alcohol, we sometimes tend to go overboard. While many people might still be sober after many rounds, others tend to get drunk after a peg or two. This again depends on a several factors such as your age, weight, and food consumption.

If you are addicted to alcohol, then you can join rehab centers or community support groups such as Detox to Rehab which offers a variety of treatment centers to choose from. You can even use their alcohol in your system calculator, or BAC to determine whether you are within the legal limit or not.

Alcohol can stay in your system:

    • Breath – Up to 24 hours
    • Urine – Up to 72 hours
    • Saliva – Up to 24 hours
    • Hair – Up to 90 days
    • Blood – Up to 6 hours

Determining how much is Too Much

BAC is the right tool to determine if you are within the legal alcohol limit or not. All you have to do is enter your gender, body weight, and the total number of drinks you have had. If your BAC is within:

    • 0.01 – 0.06 – You will be slightly buzzed and decreased concentration
    • 0.06 – 0.10 – You will shed all inhibitions, have blunted feelings, and lose all reasoning
    • 0.11 – 0.20 – You might experience mood swings and have slurred speech
    • 0.21 – 0.29 – You will be in a state of deep intoxication and might experience a memory blackout
    • 0.30 – 0.39 – You can become unconscious and have difficulty breathing and high heart rate
    • >0.40 – This can lead to unconsciousness or even death with symptoms of labored breathing and high heart rate

    Conclusion

Light to moderate drinking is fine as long as you do not go overboard with your alcohol consumption. If you suffer from certain health conditions, you might want to consult your doctor on the right alcohol consumption.
