Dentures are generally of two kinds, complete dentures, and partial dentures. They are recommended to patients by dentists after inspecting the condition and amount of lost teeth. Patients who have lost most of their teeth are recommended for complete dentures, and those having few missing teeth are advised to go for partial dentures. Columbia, SC dentures are affordable options that come at a lower cost than dental bridges and implants while simultaneously restoring the healthy and vibrant smile on the faces of the patient.

Although partial dentures don’t involve any complicated procedure, getting used to them requires considerable time. Also, there are some restrictions on food habits that one needs to follow strictly o make the most out of partial dentures.

    Getting Used to Partial Denture:

One requires time to acclimate themselves with a partial denture as retaining an artificial object in the month might make a person uncomfortable. Moreover, having meals with a partial denture might seem awkward initially, but becomes habitual with time.

The main reason behind this awkwardness is that people don’t need to reflect on the process or way of chewing with their original teeth as the nerves inside them signal the brain on the frequency or strength of chewing.

But in case of false teeth placed on the partial denture that lacks any connection with the brain, it fails to send necessary information, making it difficult to estimate the chewing process. Here are a few tips that one can consider following to get accustomed to partial dentures:

    Include Soft Food in Meals:

While dealing with partial dentures, one should include mashed potatoes, boiled vegetables, eggs, fish, and any other soft food that will go easy on the teeth.

    Avoid Biting the Front Teeth:

Biting with front teeth can cause harm to oral prosthetics and might feel awkward eventually. There it is advised to avoid biting food; one can cut them into smaller pieces so that it becomes easier for them to break and chew efficiently.

    Foods to Totally Avoid:

People with partial dentures should avoid hard food that takes effort to break down, such as nuts, candies, or steaks. Moreover, sticky food like popcorn should also be avoided because that can stick to the artificial teeth and eventually damage them.

    Final Thoughts:

Keeping in touch with the dentist is also advised, who will offer the proper guidance on the do’s and don’ts, which will help one get acclimated with partial dentures within a short period.
