Do You Believe These Erectile Dysfunction Myths?

Even though erectile dysfunction is quite a common problem in the United States, men are still embarrassed to confess and talk about it. The embarrassment can get to the point where they do not engage in sexual intercourse with their partners at all and hide their issues. However, that won’t do any good and may even worsen the problem.

There is no shortage of information about erectile dysfunction, but a lot of it is not true. If you are considering seeing a Telemedicine Doctor and doing your research on the topic, you may come across many wrong facts. Clearing your doubts is important to cure your condition as quickly as possible.

    Myths about erectile dysfunction

    • People with erectile dysfunction need testosterone.

The first thought people with erectile dysfunction may have is that they lack testosterone. While testosterone is an important hormone and affects sex drive, it may not be the cause of your ED. Low testosterone levels can lower your sex drive or libido, but the pathway to erectile problems is entirely different.

    • If you can get an erection, that means you do not have ED.

The definition of ED is not the same for every guy. You might have ED even if you can get an erection but not keep it for as long as it is satisfying for sex. Some men have difficulty getting an erection at all, while others struggle to keep it throughout their sexual experience. Both conditions can be concerning and need medical attention. In some other cases, men can get an erection and keep it, too, but the erection won’t be hard enough for an erection.

    • ED is only an old man’s problem.

It is only a myth that erectile dysfunction can happen to older men only. The truth is that the condition does not depend on anyone’s age. It can happen due to various factors, one of them being old age. 15% of the male population under the age of 40 reported that they experience ED occasionally. However, only 25% of them seek treatment because they feel embarrassed about talking about the problem.

    • It is only a guy’s problem.

While erectile dysfunction can only happen in a male, that does not mean the only people affected by it are men. Sexual intimacy involves both partners. If your male partner suffers from ED, their female partners may not be happy with their sexual life. It is important to communicate these problems with your problem so that you can look for a solution together. Hiding your feelings will only lead to an unhappy relationship.
