4 Ways to Tell Good Indica Seeds from Bad Indica Seeds

There has been a significant increase in the number of people buying Indica seeds online after the US government legalized recreational marijuana in certain states. In states where it is completely legal, you can easily find your favorite strains amidst the plethora of options.

However, not everyone wants to buy these strains, and some are interested in buying their seeds. If you’re interested in buying seeds, you must understand how to differentiate between good and bad seeds, and in this article, we will list a few ways that will guide you in differentiating between good and bad seeds.

1- Touch the seeds

How the cannabis seed feels in your hand is a good indicator of its quality. Hold the seed between your thumb and forefinger, and squeeze the seed a little bit.

If the seed is bad, then it will crack open. However, good seeds will remain intact. Nevertheless, you must never squeeze it so hard that it breaks under enormous pressure.

2- Look at the seeds

The physical appearance of the seed can speak volumes about how good or bad the seed is. The good seed will be in dark black or dark grayish color. If the seeds you have are pale or white, they are bad seeds and will not likely germinate.

A good seed will have a heavy waxy coating. If your seed does not shine a bit under light, they are bad seeds. A healthy seed will have a fatter and rounder shape. However, if the seeds have a thick shell, the shell will break underwater.

3- Test it in water

If you still doubt its quality, you can place them in water and test its quality. However, experts recommend not using this technique until you’re ready to germinate the seeds.

Fill a glass with lukewarm water. Add the seeds to the water and let it sit for 2-3 hours. The seeds that float on the water’s surface are bad, and the seeds that sink to the bottom are good. Once you find the good seeds, immediately germinate them. If you do not germinate, it will not turn into a healthy plant as it has already absorbed water.

4- Germination test

This is the final test you can do if you’re unsure about other methods. Germinating the seeds is the best choice as it will help you understand which seeds are good, as good seeds will start developing a white taproot.

There are several ways by which you can germinate the seeds: paper towel method, water method, planting them in jiffy pots, etc. Once the seeds germinate, do not touch the taproot, as it will contaminate the seed.

These techniques help you differentiate between good and bad seeds. However, you can always buy Indica seeds online at the best prices from Weed Seeds.
