    4 Methods for Shifting Stubborn Fat

    Get Better Sleep

    While everyone is aware that getting enough sleep is important for overall health and functioning, sleep can also play a crucial role in weight loss. Lack of sleep has been linked to increased appetite and decreased metabolism, both of which can lead to weight gain even if you’re dieting and exercising effectively. If you’re struggling to lose weight in spite of doing everything right, make sure you’re getting enough sleep each night and that the quality of this sleep is relatively high.     Try High-Intensity Interval Training

    High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a type of interval training that involves short bursts of high-intensity activity, followed by even shorter periods of rest. If your exercise regime has stagnated recently, HIIT can be a great way to shake things up. The body will naturally adapt to your exercise routine as you get more experienced and train more consistently. While this obviously means you will feel fitter and stronger, it also means that the calorie decrease and overall thermogenic effect of exercise on burning calories will decrease over time. HIIT is an easy way to force your body to adapt to old exercises in a new way and jump start your metabolism. HIIT has also been shown to be particularly effective at reducing abdominal fat.

    Make Dietary Changes

    If you’ve been in a caloric deficit for an extended period of time but you’re still not seeing the results you want, some dietary tweaks may be in order. If you’re already in a caloric deficit, then reducing your daily calories even further isn’t going to be a sustainable option and may even backfire by slowing your metabolism to a halt.

    At this point, it may be a good idea to consider adding more protein to your diet. Protein has a much higher thermic effect than other macronutrients, meaning your body burns more calories to process and use protein than it does for fat or carbs. Protein will also make you feel fuller, which will help regulate your appetite throughout the day.
